Utah
Worth visiting!
Whether it's worth it depends.
Utah has some incredible scenery. Not, naturally, every inch of the state, but there are stark desert landscapes that aren’t to be missed for those who appreciate that kind of beauty. Arches, Moab, Bryce, all the Badlands. There’s a good bird sanctuary in the northern part of the state, also.
Salt Lake City is big enough to have the usual city problems, but it’s also got some incredible architecture, interesting history, and one of the most significant geneaological libraries in the world. And more scope and diversity in good ethnic food than a city of this size warrants.
I don’t ski, but by all accounts there’s good skiing to be had. Mountain bikers ought to experience the world-class red rocks.
Of course, prejudice inhibits the ability to appreciate places and understand people, so probably Utah isn’t worth visiting for those who have a blanket dislike of Mormons. Not that there are as many there as most people think, but there are a lot. A lot. Also, if you like your hootch, the drinking regulations can be a pain to work around. And anyone going should be warned about the roads. For some reason, the general atmosphere of the roads there is pretty aggressive and somewhat lacking in regard for other drivers. But hey, it hones the skills.
