Star Trek: The Experience

Worth visiting!

saving grace

I was stuck in Vegas on business (and let me say, I really DO NOT like Vegas whatsoever) but this place was a saving grace. I grew up watching TNG so while I’m not a Trekkie I do like ST:TNG, and this place was a hoot. I didn’t go on the rides so I can’t comment on that, but the ambience was unique enough to make it worth visiting. Actors dressed up like different species (I met a Ferengi and got my picture with him, he even recited the Rules of Acquisition), the music, the starships, everything. And best of all admission is free so you can walk in and walk out without spending a penny, which, granted, will be very difficult ;)

Las Vegas

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: ugh

Vegas is the kind of place that you will either love or hate. Unlike most major cities (I wouldn’t call Vegas a city, it’s a strip of malls, that’s it) it DOESN’T have something for everyone. If you like drinking, gambling, and generally partying it up, this place is your haven. You will have a blast. Bring a bunch of friends, go crazy, enjoy yourself. That’s fine, great, etc.
However, if you don’t like any of those things, which many people don’t, you’ll want to leave this place as soon as you arrive. There really isn’t anything for you to do here (and that Guggenheim extension really doesn’t count, I’m sorry). If you’re unfortunate to be stuck here for business, as I was, it can be pretty unpleasant.
Let’s put it this way, I know not everyone can afford to travel internationally for financial or time reasons, and that’s fine. But if you can afford to fly to Vegas and blow hundreds if not thousands of bucks on cheap thrills, do yourself a favor and go to the REAL Venice, Paris, New York, and not the gaudy imitations on the Strip. It saddens me that some people may think the Vegas imitations are like the real thing. They’re not even close.
