More Anti-Pollution Riots!

China is a beautiful country (when you can see it through the haze), but the traveler’s experience is too often ruined by the sight, smell, and taste (it really gets that bad sometimes) of the air.

Companies think only of profit, and their government supporters prevent new environmental laws. Of course, that’s not so different from the US (especially if Perry is elected and dismantles the EPA), but in China it has already spun so far out of control that the government won’t take action against the companies unless the people force them to.

Taste the Pollution

No joke – the air is so bad in Quanzhou city, you can taste it. And sadly, after a few hours, you barely notice it anymore. So many people breathing that air, and most probably have no idea how bad it is.

Tropicana Resort and Casino, Las Vegas Strip

Do not stay here.

It’s an okay place to visit, but you don’t want to stay in the hotel. Non-smoking rooms smell like smoke, rooms with a balcony smell like jet exhaust, shower heads are at neck level, wallpaper peeling, air conditioning not working. When I walked onto the patio, I kicked over a half-empty beer can that nobody bothered to clean up, then when I went to the bathroom I had to pick the toilet seat up off of the floor and reattach it to the toilet. When my flight was delayed, I spent the night in a Comfort Inn in North Las Vegas, which was the lap of luxury compared to this.
