Vietnam here I come!

I happen to have some friends I met at Uni that travel a lot. All the people I knoe who have been to Vietnam speak very highly of it; I believe the landscape is quite varied and very beautiful; I really enjoy going to places that are markedly different to the West; I like to begin to understand cultures that are quite different to my own, live their way of life, eat what they eat and speak their languages. I think I’m gonna have to quit my job and just set off, ‘all aboard for the magical mystery tour!’…

Forbidden City, Dongcheng District

Not so forbidden!

I saw this place about 4 years ago with some friends. I definitely reccomend that you visit it, historically, culturally and in terms of its architecture it is definitely a place worth seeing. Expect to share the place with a lot of people though, it gets really busy, starts to feel like a tourist trap. The best thing is when you get out of the forbidden city you can walk up this little hill that overlooks it, on a clear day it’s a fantastic view not only of the forbidden city but also of Beijing.
