Toscana

(in Italy)

Worth visiting!

No I didn't go because of the "Tuscan Sun" hype

But I am sure all of it is true. Tuscany is a nice, away-from-it-all region (for now…tourism is getting crazy there…). I spent a very nice ten days there visiting Florence and Siena. Of course the Chianti and pesto are awesome. If you are going to see art, as many people do, make sure you get reservations on the web ahead of time. I recommend doing a visit to wineries if you can, as well as getting outside of the larger towns and driving around to the smaller villages. Don’t forget to bring back limoncello.

Barcelona

Worth visiting!

Place I would move to in a heartbeat

Ever since I first saw Barcelona I wanted to live there. The city is fantasticly beautiful and lively. It has great neighborhoods and lots of stuff to do. If you don’t fall in love with all the gorgeous Gaudi architecture, you will surely fall in love with the Catalan accents you hear. Spend no less than three days drinking sangria on Las Ramblas & people watching.

Alicante

Worth visiting!

Best place I ever studied abroad

Okay so it’s unfortunately the only place I ever studied abroad, but that doesn’t matter – the city is amazing. I lived here in 2000 with a family so that I could take classes at the University. The city is very beautiful and vibrant, with people to match. I returned in 2004 to visit and was still taken aback by the friendly people and delicious regional dishes. The best time to go is at the end of June for their very famous week-long festival: Las Hogueras de San Juan…but honestly, there isn’t a bad time to visit Alicante – it’s a terrific city all year round.

Seattle

Worth visiting!

Where I live now

Seattle is a beautiful and fun city. It is actually impossible to become bored here. There are tons of things to do in the city as well as outdoorsy stuff outside of the city. The best time to visit Seattle is the summer—shhhhh…it actually doesn’t rain here all the time…but don’t tell anyone, because it’s already crowded enough…

St. Louis

Worth visiting!

My hometown

I spent the first 22 years of my life in Missouri, and the majority of that was in my hometown, Saint Louis. While I don’t live there anymore, I always enjoy coming home to visit the country’s nicest people, a McDonald’s riverboat, Nelly, the most authentic Italian food this side of the pond and the best arch (which is as tall as it is wide!!! )!
