My travel wishlist has never included the impressive NYC, but recently a friend invited me to join her on a long weekend starting in Brooklyn and ending in Boston. Let me just say that SUFJAN STEVENS, live at the Brooklyn Music Academy, is reason enough to add NY to the list!

November 1st, Brooklyn here I come!

Visiting sister Kat at her trendy (yet tiny) new apartment downtown…
DeLux: friendly, cheap, crowded, and about 50 yards from the apartment which is PERFECT for when it’s snowing.
Celtics game: AWESOME mostly due to the fact that the Mavs whopped the celtics asses. Soundly. GO MAVS.
Northshore: cold and blustery, just like a wharf should be!
Cambridge: Dancetastic! a tiny club called Middlesex where the dj spun early 90’s hits and remixes and the drinks were free (well, I’m sure somebody paid for them but it wasn’t me!)
Newbury: ran into friends from Dallas that we hadn’t seen since December – Kristin and Andrew just right there on the sidewalk! Who’d a thunk it.

Overall, Boston was perfect; beautiful weather during the day and snow flurries at night, friendly crowds at the bars and shops, beautiful harbor, etc.

Heading up on Friday to visit sister Kat! I haven’t travelled properly in MONTHS and I can’t wait to have an adventure!

Business trip in November! The only thing more exciting than visiting a new place is going for FREE with work! Counting down…

Busy, dusty, thriving, growing, noisy, cluttered, crowded, colorful, generous, hospitable, delicious and amazing.

was for my sister Mollie’s wedding in 2002. Just last weekend I finally went back (4 years later!) and had the most amazing weekend in Glen Ellyn and Wheaton. Worth the trip, totally worth the trip. (It helps that my family is amazingly funny and hospitable, it helps that Illinois is beautiful, it helps that their microbrews are delicious).
