My travel wishlist has never included the impressive NYC, but recently a friend invited me to join her on a long weekend starting in Brooklyn and ending in Boston. Let me just say that SUFJANSTEVENS, live at the Brooklyn Music Academy, is reason enough to add NY to the list!

Visiting sister Kat at her trendy (yet tiny) new apartment downtown…

DeLux: friendly, cheap, crowded, and about 50 yards from the apartment which is PERFECT for when it’s snowing.

Celtics game: AWESOME mostly due to the fact that the Mavs whopped the celtics asses. Soundly. GO MAVS.

Northshore: cold and blustery, just like a wharf should be!

Cambridge: Dancetastic! a tiny club called Middlesex where the dj spun early 90’s hits and remixes and the drinks were free (well, I’m sure somebody paid for them but it wasn’t me!)

Newbury: ran into friends from Dallas that we hadn’t seen since December – Kristin and Andrew just right there on the sidewalk! Who’d a thunk it.

Overall, Boston was perfect; beautiful weather during the day and snow flurries at night, friendly crowds at the bars and shops, beautiful harbor, etc.
