I have been in this country for 3 days, just cross the border from Kosi bay of South Africa. The part of country I have been to is a resort next to a beach, very beautiful, very nice and it is not expensive to eat or stay. However, there is no road but all sand tracks and you will need a 4×4. Rumour is that there are live mines around and so stay within the sand tracks.

We went out to a very nice (yet cheap) bar/restaurant/disco one of the nights, I had the best creme brulee ever. We went through some really badlly bombed streets and seen some really poor people.
So,
-beware of Mines
-Get a 4×4
-book into resorts early
-see the bombed streets.

This place is represent the typical asian city (just smaller), I spent 5 years in this city, the people are generally friendly. There is a few fun things to do around in town and you can also visit the Sentosa Island and the Singapore river. If you are going for a shopping spree, remember to ask for GST receipt for a refund of GST when you leave town. It gets dull if you spend more than 2 days in this place.

Go simon town and see penguin, You can stop by here while on the way to cape point. There is this superb beach and free walking penguins. THere is this very nice backpacker in town and also numerous restaraunt and bars. People are friendly and it is really worth going.

Go Stellenbosch and go wine tasting, just rent a car and drive around the wineyards, book into the stellenbosch back packers (the last time I checked there were 2) and go bar crawling at night. Then spend sometime in the surrounding area (and more wine tasting) Book in advance for cheese tasting.
A word of advice, Stellenbosch people cannot drive properly…just be careful.

This place is qiet and friendly, no doubt it is a bit small. It has been my main base of supply during my 2 monthes attachment in Manguzi Hospital. It has nearly everything that a city dweller needs, and it has nice beaches and 2 malls. This place house a small yet fansinating science world for the school kids, worth checking it out. I would recommend staying in the formula one hotel in the middle of town, it is really cheap. Althought there are some really nice backpacker places just outside town (eg in Bushland). It has a domestic airport, and it is a better choice than durban as a destination if you are planning to visit the northern Zulu land. You can also pick up rental cars there too.

I spent 2 monthes in this beautiful country. This place is stunning. Make it a point it a point to go diving in Sdowana Bay, go wine tasting in Stellaborch, and visit Swaziland as well.
