a strange place, a giant lake in the middle of dry desolation, totally unrelated. my experience working there – it was like living in a Salvador Dali painting for 8 months

definitely hook up with a bike. it is by far the bike friendliest place on earth i’ve been to and all the great hills and green spaces opne up so well for the two wheeled

i worked at the resort here for a year. the place was rough at first, oppressively quiet, especially for this city kid, but it grew on me and the magic seeped in… i’ll never forget full moon rituals of hiking along the rio grande late, without lights searching for the hidden hot springs

gritty, hard, dirty, not for everyone,... but amazing too. i’ve done two teaching residencies here. it was a difficult place before i knew a lot of people, but with some brazilian coleagues, amazing things opened up… like NYC without tourists

be careful… very very careful, but the danger is part of the fun and do be sure to check out the up-and-coming samba clubs ner the Lapa
