Magdalen Mae

I was not quite four. Me, my mom, my dad, my cousin, my little brother, and my dog were traveling from Tampa to south Jersey, and we stopped there briefly. That’s all I remember. I do want to go back, though.

Fort Payne is the official sock capital of the world.
It is also the hometown of the band Alabama.
My best friend and I were on our way home from Scottsboro and stopped in Fort Payne just to get our picture by the sock capital sign in our new socks, purchased at the Fort Payne Wal-Mart, where we had just been looking for members of Alabama. We heard a rumor they hung out there.
I’m not going to lie, had we not been slightly bored we probably wouldn’t have stopped. But it was still a memorable excursion.

There is a girl in my apartment complex from Brisbane, and the way she describes Australia it is exactly the way I think America SHOULD be, very laid-back and fun. She also has a cool accent.

I am going to Six Flags on my honeymoon!

Apparently Jack Daniels died while kicking his safe, and they tell you the story there. I also hear the employees get free whiskey every payday.

I went on my birthday with a friend. We leave early in the morning and get back in the early evening so we can spend as much time there as possible. We STILL just barely made it to Unclaimed Cargo, which is across the parking lot, and did not manage to make it to the T&W Unclaimed Baggage, which a friend recommended, across the street. I would also like to go to some of their satellite stores, which are all over north Alabama. I have a really good friend from Boaz, and he recommended the one there. Apparently they have a discount mall there as well, so I may have to make a little detour on the way to Scottsboro next time.

I have distant cousins there. I don’t know their ages or their names, only that they are related to me through my maternal grandmother and that my mother met them when she was a little girl and that they spoke Italian and Spanish and had blonde hair. I need to ask my nonna about them while she’s still alive and make plans to visit.

I will also admit…I am a huge fan of The Motorcycle Diaries (not a communist, but it was an awesome book), and I really want to see some of the places mentioned in there. And I want to learn to tango.

I want to study abroad in Italy for six weeks next summer and perfect my Italian while also studying cooking and Renaissance art.

One of my really good friends is from Niagara Falls, and she just moved back there, so I promised to go see her when I had a chance.

It was a pretty neat aquarium. My sister had a really cool experience there, though. She went for some function, and they served sushi! In an aquarium.
