Discovering paradise

Ended up here while waiting for flights home during the Iceland volcano disaster at Easter…such an amazing discovery! The beach was amazing, just a vast expanse of pure white sand and dunes, and crystal clear water. We thought we’d discovered paradise on our last day in Fuerteventura, and we secretly hoped we wouldn’t be able to get a flight home for another week! Thanks, volcanic ash!

The Old Town, Rhodes

Best thing about Rhodes?

The Old Town is incredible! Once you’re inside the walls and away from the restaurants, you’re transported back to Medieval times. My favourite Old Town experiences:

1. walking down the Street of the Knights (Ippoton), where it’s almost eerily quiet

2. Sitting in the beautiful square outside the old Inn of Auvergne.

3. Walking around the inside of the outer walls, posing with piles of cannon balls.

Didn’t get to visit the Palace of the Grand Masters, but I’m sure it’s amazing too. The archaological museum also looked worth a visit.

Monolithos, Rhodes

Monolithos Castle

Best place for sunsets on the whole island? Maybe. Visiting in the evening is great as well because the crowds are long gone and you can get some fantastic photos of the incredible panoramic views as the sun sets. There is a little chapel in the middle of the castle ruins, where you can sign your name in the visitor book and even light a candle.
