I wanna go!

We went Sunday for bingo and it was loads of fun. Kind of distracting and hard to talk cuz you might miss your numbers but the people were relaxed and cool and the bar had a very welcoming, fun atmosphere.

This bar was bo-ring. The decor made me want to yawn, I don’t even think they were playing music, and all the people were so attention-starved that I could hear their egos crying out “look at me! look at me!”

the most elegant dining exerpience i’ve had in thailand so far. the service was first class and the atmosphere was amazing. as soon as you walk in the whole place smelled like roses and teak wood and it has an authentic old style thai feel. i loved the goldware (not silverware) and gold plates. oh yeah…and the food was good too. :)

i thought i was going to go this weekend because i went on a teachers trip with the school to kanchanburi. unfortunately, we stayed far away from anything and the waterfalls weren’t one of the activities. what a bummer…so close but so far away.

This place is amazing if you are animal lover. The gibbons are so cute and fun to watch and you get a sense that the people who work there really care about the animals. The gibbon center is in the rain forest, a short hike away from the Bang Pae waterfall so you can include that in your trip. The animals are very active, unlike some other gibbons I’ve seen in zoos probably because they are close to their natural habitat. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Phuket.

I finally made it to Phuket and although I enjoyed my trip I probably won’t go back. I imagine that this place would have been very beautiful to visit 10 years ago but now it is crowded with tourists and the water is polluted with trash and gasoline from speed boats and jet skis. We took a day tour to the Phi Phi islands and did some snorkeling. All of the coral was dead and you could see trash in the bottom of the sea. If you are traveling to Thailand for a short time I would recommend going to some of the other beaches like Koh Tao where there are less tourists and the diving is better. Another major drawback of Phuket is that it is very expensive. Everything there is 3 to 5 times more than it would cost in other parts of Thailand and its so difficult to get around because a minimum tuk tuk charge is 300 baht. Regardless, it was an experience and we had lots of fun!

We ended up not going scuba diving because of time constraints but snorkeling was just as fun. There were tons of fish and they were scared of you at all, clown fish, angel fish, barracuda and lots of other fish that I’m not sure what they were. There was not much to do in the town at night but it was worth it for the gorgeous beaches and beautiful sunsets.

beautiful clear blue water, white sand, good food and not too touristy. it was a nice way to relax for the weekend and the accomodation was cheap and nice.
