Death Valley

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Incredible!

I camped here for a week (at the Furnace Creek Campground) and hiked all over the Park while on a geology field trip. It’s a geologically fascinating place, but I can’t imagine how anyone (rockhound or not) could deny that it’s a beautiful place. The sky at night is a wonder…it feels like it’s about to swallow you and the stars are just barely out of reach. Don’t miss Mosaic Canyon – it was my favorite stop on the trip. Natural Bridge was fantastic also. We didn’t make it out to Artists Pass, but I hear it’s great too. GO!

Las Vegas Strip

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: The country's capital city of depravity

The only good things I can say about this town are:

- It’s pretty cool (at first) to be able to walk around town with beer
- It’s amusing to watch the taxis try to run over pedestrians (taxis aren’t liable for hitting pedestrians on the strip if they cross against the light)
- The weather’s nice in March

Other than that, it’s insulting and depressing that so many people waste money and dignity in this town. Shouldn’t we be concerned that it’s the fastest growing city in the country? Seven thousand people a MONTH are moving to Vegas. Maybe the rest of the city is great…I dunno. I can only speak to what I saw on the strip and driving down from Red Rock Canyon.

Fort Worth

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: Not worth the trip unless you really love steaks

The city was a pit. Big. Industrial. The largest potholes I have ever personally witnessed. I thought we might have to have our rented Dodge Neon towed out of a few of them. But there was this one glorious, magnificent, fabulous restaurant that made the entire trip worth it…Del Friscos. The steak honestly melted in my mouth. So…if you must go to Fort Worth, don’t dream of missing Del Friscos steakhouse. It’s expensive, but you’ll probably never get a better steak. Make reservations, too.

Vancouver

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

I loved Vancouver. We were only there a few days, and it was great. BUT the hotels rip off anyone that looks like a tourist or like a putz. I resembled both. They will tell you it’s b/c of the “exchange rate.” Even if you’re great at math, they will argue with you over this until you either go away or give in and pay about 20-30% more than the advertised rate. Check out Korea town. And the big flea market. OH! And definitely the giant suspended bridge.

Washington State

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Loved it!

Loved Seattle! Loved the Palouse! Loved Pullman! Loved the coast! I drove from one end of the state to the other two years ago and it was really beautiful. From coastline to mountains to the rolling basalt hills of the Palouse…the scenery changes every couple of hundred miles. Well worth the trip.

Stay home and rent Girls Gone Wild instead

There’s not much to see in SC that you can’t see at any other major Spring Break venue. It’s flat and sandy. Go to North Carolina instead.

Yellowstone National Park

Worth visiting!

Go!

I spent a summer working in YNP as a housekeeper at the Yellowstone Lodge. I watched Old Faithful go off 48 times. I was almost attacked by a Grizzly. It was one of the best summers of my life.

Still waiting for Fargo to grow on me

I’ve been here nearly a year now. It’s fine. I wouldn’t move here if I didn’t love my job though. The social scene leaves much to be desired. It IS home to the world’s largest prairie chicken though. That’s kinda nice. It’s not a REAL prairie chicken though. It’s just a statue. Still…it’s pretty darn big.

Much fun!

Great hiking at Gooseberry Falls – trails were super-well maintained. And L. Superior was way larger than I thought. Yeah, I’d even say it was Great! That was bad… And Split Rock Lighthouse was very cool. A couple got engaged at the top while we were there. Nice! Grandmas was obligatory, of course. And fun. THE breakfast place to go to is called Amazing Grace – fabulous in every way! Really. And I hate breakfast. Oh! And Pizza Luce was really incredible too – one of the 5 best pizzas I’ve ever had. We got the Athena, I believe – all veggie – very wonderful.
