I can clearly divind my life into before and after I spent 3 months living in Berlin.

I spent Jan-March of my junior year in college here. Not only did my German get (briefly) great, but I learned more about myself than I ever dreamed I would. Depending on which day you ask me, I’ll tell you it was the best or worst thing I’ve ever done…

Between the bitter cold, the beer, and the intense isolation I felt, I got really depressed. But, Berlin made me face parts of me I’d ignored for a long time.

I can’t say I love Berlin, but that city has a place deep inside my heart. It always will. I owe Berlin a big “thank you” and a punch in the face.

This was the first neighbourhood after college. Though my life there wasn’t perfect, I remember it with rose colored glasses. All of it living with my boyfriend (we still live together, but now in LA), carving pumpkins, taking hot baths in an old tub bc our raditor was broke for most of a PDX winter.

Someday, I’ll move back. So keep a spot for me at the Sandy Hut!

I found my home. A beautiful wedding on an organic farm near trees and the ocean. We saw old friends, new ones, and made a few animal friends. The weekend was spent drinking home-brew, going barefoot for 48 hours, breathing fresh air, sleeping outside, and just sort of forgetting Los Angeles.

It was perfect, peaceful, and restful. Suddnely, I was home.
