Sydney

Worth visiting!

It's ok...

I put the ‘worth visitng’ tag because I love my country, but Sydney just doesn’t do it for me.
The people are rude.
The place has no structure – the city is ALL over the place.
Everyone is way TOO busy and in a hurry (whilst in New York, they are too, but they aren’t angry about it)
There is NO WHERE to get a good coffee.
Newtown is pretty cool though, they have great vintage stores.

It’s weird that more ppl. want to go here than to Melbourne – I know it’s my home town, but I have heaps of friends from Sydney who hate it, and have moved to Melbourne because they find it more accepting – I guess if you’re alternative you’ll enjoy Melbourne more. If you like the water, the beach and a yuppie lifestyle, then go to Sydney!

Worth visiting!

Untitled

There’s not much to do, besides drink, swim, eat and relax! You can sit on the beach all day and not move! People come up to you with food, clothes and drinks to buy on the beach! Great place for a lazy, lazy vacation.

Bangkok

Not worth visiting!

Smelly

I went a few years back, and I was bored.
The people are LOVELY though. The streets are stinky, the food is good – but it’s all extremly dirty, dirty dirty!
Don’t go if you have a weak stomach!

New York City

Worth visiting!

Oh my god!

Was so fantastic! I’m going back in about a month for another week! I’m thinking of going over there for exchange with my uni. next year.
If your going to America, you MUST visit New York, you’ll never get bored there, it’s safe, it’s not overlly expensive like everyone told me, and New Yorkers are extremly lovely.
Being into punk/rockabilly, I really liked St. Marks Place, especialy Trash and Vaudiville (I can’t spell, sorry!) where ppl. like Mick Jagger and Debbie Harry STILL shop at. I loved Union Square for ppl. watching – The Barnes and Noble there is great, and The Strand, a HUGE second hand bookstore is just around the corner.
Also, check out Magnolia Cafe on Bleeker St. for some scrummy cupcakes!

Polly

Worth visiting!

Awesome 1920s style cocktail lounge

I’ve been living in Fitzroy for ten years now, and I’ve seen Brunswick St (one of the main shopping/eating places in Fitzroy) go from being extremly alternative, to a place for yuppies and suburban nit-wits on the weekends.
Polly Bar is the exception, along with a few other places, that have kept to the old feel of Brunswick St – because it is totally different to all the other bars playing Ministry of Sound Chill out seasons.
It’s lushily decorated in chase lounges, red velvety wallpaper, chandelliars hang from the ceiling – it’s as if you’ve walked into the movie Moulin Rogue!
The cocktail list is amazing, with all the recipes made by Polly staff. My fav. was the ‘cherry bomb’ which tastes like an alchololic cherry milkshake. Also the ‘raunchy affiar’ which has tasty bits of lime pulp. – - I’m not a huge drinker, so it’s great that the cocktails are seperated into three categories – Soft as silk which are the lesser strong cocktails, Something unusual – which are a bit more alcholic, and Whips and Chains, which are very alcholic! I always go for the Soft as Silk drinks, whilst my male friends like their Maritinis in the Whips and Chains section.
All kinds of people go there, you’ll see your yuppies, but also your rockabilly boys and girls, and even some goths.
It’s a fun place, with good drinks, great service, and nice food.
The websites cute as well! – - –

ps. They also have a kitchen with tasty treats – the chicken drumsticks are yummy!
