Ok, so it didn’t REALLY change my life but it made it sooooooooo much better. I love this city, I want to live in this city, I’d marry it if I could. I love the fact that I can feel so important but so anonymous at the same time. I like that everyone here is different and actually has a personality. I absolutely love that everyone (apart from sales people in Tiffany and the lovely dude in my Brooklyn convenience store) is so damn grumpy, it makes me seem positively upbeat!

There is something amazing about this place, something spiritual that just cannot be explained. I’ve travelled there several times for charity work and every time I have to leave it gets harder and harder. A big shout out goes to Tendaba Camp, about a million miles up river and involving a torturous and long journey along bumpy dirt tracks but it is so worth it. The Banjul market is worth a visit too, if only to show how different it is from the Western world. Arch 22 and the view from it is a personal favourite of mine and the first image that comes to mind when I think of The Gambia. I ’d go back again, and again and again…and I probably will!
