Great place to buy silk. About twenty minutes out is a nice family resort called Dolphin Bay Resort. They clean the beach for visitors which is great. The staff speak English and are very willing to show you around the national park nearby.

Stay in a place with a washing machine. The laundry matt is expensive. One of the most beautiful places on this earth. Take good walking boots.

I lived opposite victoria park on Sewardstone Road. It was great.
The tube was easy to get around from and in the cheaper zoned area. Rents were reasonable. Bethnal Green Library and Victoria Park and the childhood museum well worth a look. The pool is opposite the childhood museum. Hackney City Farm has a nice cafe which is not too far away.

Things worth seeing/doing: Electric Shadows Cinema, The Canberra Theatre, Lanyon Homestead, Brindabella Mountains, Namadgi National Park. Floriade (flowers) end of Sept/beginning of Oct, Uriarra Crossing, rollerblading at the lake.
