Alaska Coffee Roasting Company

Worth visiting!

How this place changed my life

This is where I first discovered the taste and smell of freshly roasted coffee. This is where I discovered the beverage made with espresso and steamed half & half seductively referred to as the breve. This is where I bought Ethiopian Harrar. This is where I drank mocha after mocha and wondered about my English professor’s taste in men. This is where I discovered Zap Mama. This is where I first fell in love with coffee. (Though I still have a fondness for the Folgers singles my mom used to send in my care packages.)

At the Blue Marlin, Drunk on Gin and Jazz...

...as a music major at the University, I wrote a poem about gin and jazz and limes in a matchbook. It ended with the line, “fucking limes, I’m just going to eat them anyway.”

You are soooo cool at age 21.

The first time I went to this place

My boyfriend kissed me in the middle of the street and the moon fell out of the sky.

Also, we drank Michelob Amber Bock and ate Pizza and CinnaStix.

Why I want to go to this place

Read a feature in the Travel section of The Week. Of note: Chateau Neercanne, Markt, Onze Lieve Vrouweplein, De Karkol. “The square is lined with bars and cafes, set underneath trees ringed with lights.” Underground tunnels that housed Rembrandts during WWII. South Limburg countryside – Dutch Pinot Noirs.
