I spent almost half my life here as botha student and a teacher. It was home to me for a long while, but it was also like a sick, co-dependent relationship that made me doubt my talents and abilities. After I left, I discovered that the education I got there was more than adequate to get me the kind of success I was looking for in the real world. Oddly, though, some of the people there treated me so badly that I can’t bring myself to cough up even one thin dime of alumni support.

My sweetie and I courted by walking Green Lake nearly every night for over a year. We got to know each other so well logging all those miles, and we also stayed fit. Now we live together and a little too far from the Lake to walke it every night, but every time we do, I fall in love with him all over again.

but never on the weekends. It’s way too crowded.

Seattle boasts some great scenery, nice people, and some very cool places to visit if you don’t mind driving all over the place to get for one cool thing to another. Public transportation here is spotty at best and lots of cool things are pretty far-flung. Do check out (in no particular order) the Woodland Park Zoo, the Asian Art Museum, Lakeview Cemetery, Green Lake, Seattle Center (including the Space Needle), Ballard (Hiram Chittendon) Locks, Archie McPhee, Twice Sold Tales, Fremont Troll, Carkeek Park.

If you have to choose between spening time in the Badlands and visiting Mt. Rushmore, stay in the Badlands. If you have time to spare, though, visit this site. It’s kinda strange to see an icon that has become one of our cultural cliches up close and personal.

The house is stunning. The grounds are lovely. It’s worth the $ to take the in-depth tour.

Chapel Hill is charming as both a Southern city and as a college town. I have friends who live there, so my visit was warm and delightful.
