Kasama

Worth visiting!

Kasama, Northern Province

You can get to Kasama by train or bus from Lusaka, Kapiri Mposhi and from Ndola. It is a very good base if you like to meet people and do day tours. Mbala is about 160 km away by road and there are many other places to visit just a couple of hours away. If you drive with the car coming from Kapiri don’t miss to camp at Shiwa Ngandu. I would suggest about 2 or 3 days. There is much to see but you have to walk and know where you go. Get a guide.

Chisimba Falls

(in Zambia > Kasama)

Worth visiting!

a place full of energy

Chisimba Falls is not one of the big falls but worhtwhile to get of the trek and have a wander. Good walking shoes are recommendet as there are some steep and rocky areas. If you are not good with walking and a little bit of climbing stay at the weir and enjoy the views and surrounds, have a picknic and buy some nice things at the gate on your way out. The products are all locally produced. Enjoy the place and please keep it clean, it is a volotile area.

Why I want to go to this place

I was born German, I am Australian by choice and since 1995 Zambian in my heart. My husband took me to Zimbabwe and Zambia to show me the places he grew up and the places he loves. Zambia has been fascinating since our first visit and it has never let me go again. I look forward to our next visit in November 2006 and I already know I will be sad to leave again. Away from Zambia I am homesick to a home I have never had.
