Dallas Arboretum, Dallas

Untitled

I was so overwhelmed by it’s beauty. It’s tucked into a quaint little neighborhood at White Rock Lake. The different gardens were so appealing and relaxing. We spent 5 hours there and felt like we’d gone to a day spa when we left!

Take your camera; it’s a great place to do macro shots of flora. You’re encouraged to bring a picnic lunch, and bringing water is recommended. It can get really hot in there (soft drinks are $2.50)! Also make sure to take the free tours of the Camp House and the DeGolyer home. Absolutely fascinating! The tour guides absolutely love what they do and it shows.

I would like to go again and dedicate more time to just relaxing there…fantastic place!

Live Stock Exchange, The Stockyards

We take all our visitors here

Don’t expect hundreds of herds of cattle: there are probably less than 10 but nevertheless, they are awesomely huge creatures that demand respect. The whole street gets quiet when they pass by. Make sure you ride the steam railroad, it’s a fun way to see Ft Worth.

We take our out of town family to visit with a dinner at Joe T Garcia’s. Saturdays are best… It does get old, but it all depends on who you go with. I love seeing kids get excited about all the wild west things!
