you’ve got family there, are really into the derby, or LOVE baseball so much that you have to see how the official league bats are made, I’d pass.

I’ve heard there are some great outdoors-y activities around, but unfortunately I didn’t really get a chance to check that out.

Unfortunately I thought it was a little TOO “touristy”. I can understand the reason for the powers that be closing off the entrance into the leaning tower, but THAT would have been AWESOME!

Halfway between LA and San Francisco, surrounded by beaches and awesome hiking spots, it was a great place spend four years working on my undergrad. When you got tired of the outdoors and small town feel, Santa Barbara was only an hour and a half away, and either SF or LA was easily driveable in 3-4.
