If you go try to get to the rural areas. In these areas you can really take in the scenery, like seeing water buffalo in the rice patties with the sun going down in the background. I only traveled through the southern part of Vietnam, but it was wonderful. Unless you are in a big city the majority of the folks there will not speak english, and there will not be signs in english there either. Everything is really cheap, and you can always bargain with the price. Watch out for pick pockets, just make sure you know where your belongings are and keep them close to your body.
