Bloedel Reserve, Bainbridge Island

Untitled

I saw on Wikipedia that this is where poet Theodore Roethke died:

“The Bloedels ordered the pool filled with soil the following day. It was later converted into a Zen rock garden as a silent memorial to the poet, and remains as such on the Bloedel Reserve.”

A nice memorial, if you ask me.

Vietnam, Asia

First time out of the country

My first time out of the US was in 1998 after college when I went to Vietnam with my (to-be) wife and her mother. We stayed with her family in Can Tho for a month and took trips to various areas of South Vietnam, including Tay Ninh where I got to find out a lot more about the Cao Dai religion firsthand.
