There is nothing about Coney Island I don’t love. I used to hang out here with my friends after school and they made us feel loved for being silly and loud. I only hope they now have veggie dogs, so I could actually eat there. One of my favorite things about Coney Island was that they served coke in a bottle…the old fashioned kind.

This is the motto at Cindy’s Diner, an old 50’s style diner complete with silver streamlined counter, located Downtown and featured in the movie “In the Company of Men” (filmed in Fort Wayne). This place is really great because it’s so tiny and mostly just frequented by office folk during the lunch hour. This place has FLAVOR.

The specialty of the house is a breakfast entree called “garbage”. YUM!

I just reconnected with a great friend from college who now lives in LA after having moved there from Connecticut. When I moved to Seattle 7 years ago, I thought I might move to LA and then I got kind of unenthused about even visiting. I now have a renewed interest in seeing the town through the eyes of someone who has lived there for 10 years. That’s the best kind of visit.

I desperately want to visit my Oma and see her beautiful house. Since she built it, I haven’t been back to Europe. Perhaps this summer? And then a quick jaunt to Prague!!
