Whispering Wall

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

M & I have been talking about the Whispering Wall for years, but whenever we’ve been in Grand Central we’ve forgotten or been busy doing things like catching a train to Beacon. Yesterday, after an afternoon at the research library, we found ourselves in the food court at Grand Central. As walked toward the 6 train, we noticed two guys in corners in an archway, diagonally across from each other: oh! the whispering wall! As soon as they left, we took their places.

Greenwich

Worth visiting!

Untitled

I was walking along the path on the other side of the Thames and ended up at the foot tunnel under the river to Greenwich, & figured I’d check it out, & I’m glad I did. The symmetry of the buildings of the naval college, the green of the lawns, the big hill and the observatory at the top of it, lunch at Goddards pie and mash—all so pleasing!

V&A South Kensington

Worth visiting!

a place to visit again

i could spend days here, looking at all the well-made things, the old iron locks and keys and grates, the 20th century stuff (especially the typewriters), the textiles, the prints. i didn’t see the european furniture, so clearly, i need to go back.

Tate Modern

Worth visiting!

wonderful space, and oh, the art!

a delight to explore; i grinned at the lobster-telephone and rachel whiteread’s casts of cardboard boxes and susan hiller’s work and so much more.

Chichen Itza

Worth visiting!

this was what made cancun worth it

i am not a fan of hot weather and hot sun, so the beaches of cancun, while beautiful, really weren’t for me. i’m also not a fan of dancing at nightclubs with drunken fratboys. but climbing the pyramid at chichen itza was incredible—dizzying and breathtaking and beautiful.

Edinburgh

Worth visiting!

i want to go back!

i did the whole touristy-thing when i first went (when i was in high school)—edinburgh castle and the royal mile, one of the evening walking tours, etc, and i’d love to go back, with freedom to explore more on my own.
