Leopold Brothers

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

I like Leopolds. The staff is friendly, at least the times I have been (so don’t write me a nasty note if you get someone rude). The beer is good and the food is decent.

Some things of interest:

1. They have free wireless internet.
2. They brew their own beer and spirits including this funky stuff called Pisco.
3. People love to go there to play board games (mostly because they have a huge collection).
4. It gets somewhat smoky in there.

Cherry Blossom

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Overpriced sushi, but excellent entrees

Having eaten at nearly every sushi restaurant in town, I thought my job was done and I had chosen my favorites, but then I drive down State Street only to see Cherry Blossom in the old Chi Chi’s restaurant space. They tried their darnedest to make it not look like a Chi Chi’s, but it’s not that easy.

Cherry Blossom in Ann Arbor is the biggest sushi place in town. They did their best at decorating the place with old Japanese charm, but for those of us who’ve been in town for quite some time, it’ll still be Chi Chi’s to me.

The sushi was expensive. We’re talking over $3 per piece. Rolls ranged from $5 all the way up to $12. I had two pieces and they were pretty good, but I’ve had pieces just as good and just as fresh at Yotsuba for much less.

The entrees however are excellent. They’re priced right along with everyone else, but you definitely get your money’s worth here. You get miso soup, a salad, and your entree, of which many cost under $10. This is the way to go. It’s a lot more filling for your $10 than 4 pieces of sushi!

Godaiko

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: Overpriced

Godaiko makes decent sushi. This is not in dispute. However, if you’re going to wander out of the downtown area, save yourself the cash and go to Yotsuba. The two places in the campus/downtown area that are good are Miki and Sadako.

The last time I went to this place

I was living there for two years. It isn’t the worst place I’ve lived, but not the best either. The rumor is that it’s trendy. That rumor would be incorrect.

Thai House

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Best Thai in Michigan

This is the best Thai food I’ve had outside of my Thai friend’s house. Unfortunately, I rarely make it out to Grand Rapids, but every time I go there, I’m going to eat there.

A review of this place: Delicious every time

I’ve never been disappointed with my experience at this place. The service is consistent. The seafood is fresh and outstanding. I could write more, but I’ll let you discover the place for yourself.

How this place changed my life

I grew up here. This explains some of my eccentricies.

Siena

(in Italy > Toscana)

Worth visiting!

Simply breathtaking

Siena is one of the coolest little towns in Italy. From there, you can visit even smaller towns all with its distinct charm. Siena is known for their main piazza. Just breathtaking. Good food. Good times.

Washington, D.C.

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

My in-laws have moved there, so I finally got to visit DC. Museum heaven. Too bad my wife isn’t a museum person. I’ll definitely need to go back and explore each museum more carefully.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

This is the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen in my entire life. The fact that I was on my honeymoon means I was more distracted than normal and was still at awe.

The photos do not do this place justice. The water is unbelievably clear. There’s only two negative things I can say about this place:

1. It’s really far away (unless you live there)
2. It’s expensive
