what i want to do when i get there is nothing except look. i can’t wait to see every color and texture and shadow. and i know that no camera i might have by then will be worthy but still…

i think maybe we’re going for my birthday this year. i’m crossing my fingers!

i took so many pictures of this landscape that was so foreign to me, and interesting and beautiful and i maybe otherwise i wouldn’t have ever visited, and i wouldn’t trade that first trip for anything in the world.

i spent four years here in the pursuit of higher learning and it became my home while i was there. i also met my oldest friend, amy (we were both music majors), and gave birth to my son at hospital in town. and my what a difference a decade and some spare change makes…the burg has changed significantly: the university has a new name, there are more stores in the main part of the town and traffc is way shittier than it was back then lol. it’s of course still a small town, but it’s grown a lot in the 12 years since i lived here.

I visited here in ‘05 while en route to Gulfort primarily to see Rowan Oak (William Faulkner’s home). What a wonderful day we had.

We visited here during our wonderful vacation in the spring of 2003 to see my grandma, who lived in Los Fresnos then. I’ll never forget how the manager at the motel-notell in San Benito explained to us that their pool was closed for repairs because a tenant/visitor had driven their rental car into it “by mistake” during spring break, a few weeks before our visit and it hadn’t been repaired. i’m still curious about the need to qualify as a mistake, though…ha ha ha ha.

i visited my friend, jodi, who was going to EMU. Best part was the drunk that cussed me out in french. whoo!

I was taken by how beautiful the scenery was. Regardless of the rest, I’m glad for my visit to this beautiful place.

what a wonderful day…i evol the french quarter and all the parts of new orleans that we saw. my one regret: that i didn’t take a picture of the beautiful young french boy that worked at cafe du monde…he was sitting there looking so disinterested, with a lazy look on his face. whoever you are, i’m sure that monet has turned over in his grave, despondent that he can never paint your face.

we visited the gulf this past summer and stayed in gulfport on the strip. one of the best vacations i’ve had was spent on the strip at the days in (purple and green) hotel. is it still there? does anyone know?
