The Charles

Worth visiting!

so cool.

Never seen a movie theater quite like this one… went a few years back because it was the only theater in the region (yes, region) that was playing Bubba Ho-Tep. When we got there it was sold out, so we saw Lost in Translation instead.

Will definitely catch a film at The Charles the next time I’m staying in Baltimore…

American Visionary Arts Museum

Worth visiting!

wild!

Was here on the 14th with a group from school. It was mostly art history students, and then us four graphic designers. We ditched the art history group (they were going to The Walters & the BMA) and struck out on our own. We spent the day exploring the museum – absolutely incredible. I don’t think I’ve ever had as much fun at a museum before!!

Baltimore

Worth visiting!

A city with character!

I’ve only been to Baltimore twice, but both times were wonderful. Went once a few years ago to see a movie at The Charles, and then went back recently to go to the American Visionary Art Musuem. Loads of culture here! The art scene seems alive and vibrant, lots of great dining, and of course, nothing beats people-watching at the Inner Harbor… can’t wait to go back!

Mobile

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: It's warm!

Went to visit my friends around Christmas… Great weather, a little boring out in the suburbs, but sometimes that’s a good thing. I went to Wal-Mart, and got called a Yankee! :D

Cayman Islands

Worth visiting!

A clean island...

It’s fairly clean and unpolluted – except the water at Seven Mile Beach had a strange, fishy, oily smell, unlike anything I’ve ever smelled at a beach before. Maybe it was just the section of beach we were at… it was beautiful though, and happily uncrowded.

Shopping was expensive here too. I don’t know, I guess I’m just not in the market for a new Rolex, or maybe that $70 lunch for two at Breezes (for a drink, an app, and two entrees) seemed a bit high.

Well, I was only there for one day. It was nice, but maybe I needed to explore more to get a better taste of Grand Cayman.

Jamaica

Worth visiting!

A day in Jamaica...

Was in Montego Bay last Wednesday during my cruise. We did the Canopy Adventure Tour – fantastic! The guides were a blast and there’s nothing like flying through the treetops on a zipline… Afterwards, we took a taxi to Doctor’s Cave Beach. This is one of the prettiest beaches I’ve seen, and even though it was crowded on the sand, there was plenty of room in the ocean for swimming! Also, cheap local beer (our first taste of Red Stripe – about $2.33 US) and showers are available.

It’s true – they will try to sell you everything in Jamaica, but a firm “no thanks” usually does the job. Anyway, I’d go back tomorrow if I could!

Gettysburg

Worth visiting!

Interesting.

My boyfriend’s family lives out in Hanover, so whenever we visit, we always spend a day in Gettysburg.

Lots of memorials, lots of tourists, but never fails to inspire awe (especially the Eternal Flame monument). While in town, definitely do a ghost tour (fun AND educational), do some shopping, get a yummy bite to eat (I keep winding up at the Blue Parrot Bistro), check out the pet shop (cutest kittens & puppies ever), maybe find a bargain on antiques. Gettysburg’s always a good time.

Jim's Cheesesteaks

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Still my favorite.

To save time, sometimes I go to my local Jim’s in Springfield. Same great taste, less wait (in fact, there’s never a wait. I’m usually the only one in there. I’m surprised the Springfield branch is still open, at that rate…)

But when on South Street, hey, good things come to those who wait!
