I went here when I was in college, just because my friend had never been to Canada. I’m not exactly sure what she was thinking, but she almost didn’t stop for the border patrol! I was in the backseat, practically passed out from dramamine (I don’t like car rides unless I’m in the front) and the lady was like “wake her up! why isn’t she awake!” Needless to say, we didn’t stay very long.

What a wasted trip.

My dad & I took the Amtrak from Minnesota to Portland two years ago and it was awesome!!! Once you got past North Dakota and eastern Montana, the Rocky Mountains are always a good view. We went through Glacier Park as the sun was setting…so pretty. I highly recommend taking the train somewhere at least once. Yes, it takes 35 hours to get to Portland from Minneapolis, yes flying is faster…but clouds? Boring. Mountains? Green fields? Countryside? Beautiful.
