Civil Rights Museum

Worth visiting!

Untitled

I went here with my daughters 4th grade class. The kids loved it. It held their interest for as long as anything. For me, it was moving and filled with a myriad of emotions. It covers not only the American civil rights story, but it has sections devoted to other civil rights struggles.

In My Head

Not worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

It’s been said that my head is a dangerous neighborhood in which I have not business. I spent a good part of my life in that place.

Window Cliffs

Worth visiting!

A rumor about this place

It’s been told that people sometimes go skinny dipping in the water around the cliff… I wouldn’t know… eh….

anyway, Window Cliffs remains a magical part of my youth. It is near Burgess Falls so that’s where I put it. It is amazing close to Cookeville – yet seems a world away.

Arda Lee's Hidden Hollow

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I was very young, and it seemed almost magical. Later, it seemed less magical, but it still a reasonably cool place for picnics, reunions etc.

San Juan Capistrano

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

Oh my… me and my soon to be wife spent a night in San Juan Capistrano after spending a week in Berkeley. In Berkeley, we had a blast just bumming around, but we were staying with her parents and were thus restricted… In SJC we stayed at the Mission Inn which was fabulous… and we got a room to ourselves… Wow! Memories… this was August 1993. There was photographic evidence of our stay, but no you can’t see it…

We didn’t see much of the town, but we had some drinks at the Denny’s and some wonderful blueberry pancakes in the morning…

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

Was for my Great Aunt’s funeral… it’s just a great small town with a cajun flavor… my mom grew up here, and my folks got married here.

Oh, yeah, and the whole Frog Capital thing is pretty cool, too.

Cookeville

Not worth visiting!

How this place changed my life

Well, Cookeville was a pretty boring place to grow up… but I guess the boredom inspired creativity. I am a writer (unpublished at press time), my best friend is a formerly syndicated cartoonist, another guy we know is a musician and a producer who has worked with lots of people you’ve heard of, another is a musician and an artist… that’s all I can think of right now…
