I don’t see the point of making a point of visiting Crosby. The only thing it’s got worth seeing is the Iron Men (which, I have to admit) do look fantastic at sunset. Other than that there’s only the swimming baths and a few pubs (good ones – would reccomend both Stamps Wine Bar & Bistro in the Crown buildings by Moor lane and The Royal Oak down Warrenhouse Rd).
If you’re taking a trip to the pinewoods in Freshfield, I’d reccomend dropping down the coast a bit but otherwise…
Cead mile failte.
Over the years, Liverpool has had a lot of bad press. It has always been seen as a run-down poverty stricken city populated by layabouts and thugs. Nothing could be further from the truth. The city has hundreds of grade 1 listed buildings (more than any other city outside of London), has museums, gallerys, libraries, etc (we won the European city of culture 2008 for a reason). The people are the nicest of any city I’ve visited (and I’ve been to a few), if you have a problem, someone will always stop to help.
If you can, I would definately reccomend visiting the city at least for a day or two. Two dates spring to mind to see the city in full party mode, March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day) and August bank holiday weekend (Matthew’s St festival).
Good Luck and have a great time when you come.
