Iriomote Island

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

It was wonderful, divinely sleepy, relaxing getaway – perfect if you live on Okinawa. We stayed at the Irumote So mentioned by “beeb” below. We paid 7,000 yen each (!) But had a private room with bath, air, meals, not to mention that view. They shuttled us around to/from ferry and rental car place. Also, met lots of friendly people in the shared dining room. We snorkeled and saw a great variety of fish (many more than Okinawa honto). We hiked up to see the waterfalls and cooled off in the river pools. Had delicious “Iriomote Soba” at roadside stand and frozen pineapple on a stick at another (which you pay for in a little box left out by a refrigerator.) I’d say it’s probably worth renting a car. It’s certainly worth a visit.

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

I LOVE North Carolina. Stay to the west or east and you’ll see some beautiful things. DONT base your opinion off of I-95 though!

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Pattaya Fairtex

I was dragged along by my husband to do some muay thai training at the Fairtex Club in Pattaya. Surprisingly, I loved every bruise, bump and sore muscle that I got. We checked out a fight one night, and my adreneline was pumpin’...I wanted to be a fighter.

Caracas

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place

There are many beautiful and interesting things to see in Venezuela, and I do believe there is something or someone worth visiting in every city or country; however, I can’t say that I’d really recommend visiting Caracas specifically. To be sure, I was only there for a year and that was back in 1999. Maybe things have changed since then. But, when I was there it was dangerous – nobody would stop at red lights at night for fear of carjacking. There were lots of muggings, etc. People seemed on edge and suspicious of one another.

But this is just my perspective…again from a long time ago. The Avila was beautiful and the coffee was great, El Teatro Teresa Careno interesting and outside of Caracas there were fantastic beaches and great natural beauty.
