When facing the east, look at the ceiling, you’l see a dark path of brown, that is the only spot left of the orginal work of the grand central. When they renovated the place, they kept just that small portion.

Ok, if you are driving from the north into the city, and wish to escape tolls. Take I-87 to the Willis bridge then get on the FDR south! People think the FDR is crowded and has bad traffic, but I have made that trip so many times even during rush hours. It moves, the further south you go, the faster it picks up. And if you are going to queens and brooklyn it just makes sense! Free bridges!
