Texas, United States

Home!

Well, I live here so i obviously love it. don’t get me wrong, the weather is total bull. if you’re going to visit… come in early december. it’s normally pretty cool then. it DOES get very cold in late january, early february. spring is usually nice, but july is HOT and august is like a FRYINGPAN.

anyway, austin is really fun… it’s a mix of corporations and mom & pop joints. austin is very laid back and full of crazy people. however, be prepared for horrible traffic… the way the roads are constructed is just ridiculous. the public transportation is pretty good though.

san antonio is beautiful. lots of history, duh, but there’s also lots of stuff for the kids. there’s sea world, fiesta texas and lots of shopping. if you have the money, stay on the riverwalk…. especially at the marriot. VERY fancy. schlitterbahn is just north of san antonio. (best water park in the nation 6 years running).

houston is really fast-paced… it’s one of the bigger cities. i don’t know a lot about houston, but i know a lot of people who love it.

dallas is fun. there’s a lot of theatre and great dining. six flags is here as well as hurricane harbor. the state fair is here in october… it’s a blast.

corpus christi is fun if you’re into the beach scene… then to take it even farther you can drive to padre island. don’t come during spring break if you can help it…. that’s when everybody else comes!! haha

there are several other great places to visit in texas, but these are some of my favorites. :)

Sunset Strip, Hollywood

Texan meets the OC

Let me prefrence this by saying that I am a Texas girl…. not to say i’m a cowgirl or whatever, but I’ve never lived anywhere but here…. i stayed at the “riot hyatt” when I visited LA. that’s where all the rock & roll stars stay when they play la….. but i wan’t that impressed…. anyway, it was really funny cause right across the street was the house of blues, very “rock & roll”… then just down the street there was a jack in the box!! it was hillarious!!

House Of Blues, Hollywood

Gospel Brunch

I attended the Gospel Brunch at the sunset strip location of House of Blues. I’m not a HUGE fan of gospel music, but this was a BLAST!! The food is what you would eat for breakfast in the DEEP south, so expect heartburn! haha! They serve memosas (a huge plus!). I got to sit in the “balcony”… the bar opens before the show starts so you can see the perfromance downstairs…. it was so neat!!! I wish I could have seen a night performance, too, but I certainly recommend the Sunday show.
