Worth visiting if you’re in London, have a spare day and want to see the countryside.

Rome -> Florence -> Pisa -> Venice -> Milan: totally gorgeous (right up until Milan anyway). Late Oct had good pleasant weather, with slightly fewer crowds.

Expensive, but fun

Wander around the gardens on the hill near the Prince’s Palace – totally gorgeous. Make sure you walk up there!

I’ll be going here in a couple of days now, and I’ve already got some things in mind. Staying at 51 Buckingham Gate, which means I’m right down the street from the Palace!

If anyone’s ever read Two Weeks With the Queen by Morris Gleitzman, you’ll know where my first impression of England & London come from.

But yeah, stuff to see – the Palace, obviously; Westminster Abbey, Big Ben; Parliament; all that jazz and a bag o’ chips!

Going here in September – Training starts Sept. 4th (4 days before my 21st birthday, would you believe?) and finishes Oct. 27th. Looking forward to it for sure!

We covered:

1) Auckland
2) Bay of Islands
3) Taupo
4) Volcanoes south of Lake Taupo
5) Rotorua
6) Napier
7) Wellington

- Great trip, wonderful scenery. Wish we had more time.

I went in summer, and:

1) Be prepared to move around a lot during the day. Hiring a bike is great, but be sure not to leave it in a no-parking spot.

2) Very easy to over-do temples. Make sure you have something else in your itenery.

3) There is a reason why the Japanese are so famous for their fans. If going in the humid summer, make good use of them.

4) Kyoto Station is a great place on summer evenings, surprisingly, but everything else is happening up at Shijo dori.
