Worth visiting!
Akaroa is about an hour and a half’s drive from Christchurch. It is a small seaside town with craft shops and nice restaurants. It has a French background, as early immigrants from France settled there. It is a good place to go for a weekend or a dat trip.

My husband proposed to me in Singapore Airport, and we went back for our honeymoon. We love the place, the different cultures, the climate, the sense of being safe on the streets at night, the orchids…

In 1974, I lived in Mauritius for a year. When we first arrived there we stayed in an apartment block at Flic En Flac. The family who owned it were the Hazareesinghes, and they were very hospitable. I remember Mr Hazareesinghe making wonderful rum punch. I also remember the massive spiders which freaked me out!
I’d love to go back and see what it is like there today.
