Skip the Climb
Skip the climb to the top unless you really need the exercise. There are other hikes in the area that provide better views and are less crowded.

over 3 years agoBefore I went to Portland for a week this past June, I asked everyone I knew for their opinion and their recommendations. Overwhelmingly, the reviews were positive. It was described as a very clean, safe city with fantastic public transportation and a quirky, green culture. The week I was there I saw the Starlight Parade (prior to the Rose Festival), the Rose, Japanese and Chinese Gardens, Powell’s Books, and most of downtown. The entire city is accessible via the light rail, which is free in the city center and inexpensive outside it. Overall, I had a very positive experience!
over 3 years agoIf you’re not going to go to the EMP (which is in the same building) then don’t bother with the SciFi museum. The total floor space devoted to SciFi is trivial compared to the amazing exhibits in the music project, and the displays leave a lot to be desired. I’ve been a devoted fan of science fiction since I was a small boy, but this museum was absolutely not worth the time I spent here.
