I just spent a few nights in Trinidad on a layover. I am completely shocked by how developed the island is. There is absolutely amazing buildings and the majority of the roads are in great condition.

It isn’t terribly expensive, and there is some beautiful scenery.

If I have one complaint it is that the public transportation is IMPOSSIBLE to understand if you are only going to be there for a few days.

Learn the language, Dutch or Sranan. It is important to getting involved in Suriname culture.

But, I did sit for HOURS! in the Trinidad Airport on a layover on my way to Suriname.

Of course that isn’t bad, it is somewhat expected, but the airconditioner wasn’t working, and it was hot… UNBEARABLY HOT, and there was no air circulation….

I wouldn’t really say I was there, but I suffered while on the soil, so I am marking it off.
