Spice Market

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

My company reserved the entire restaurant for our holiday party last night. All of us had a fantastic time.

The service was absolutely incredible. Of course, our experience was a different one than would be had by a regular diner, but if it was any indication of what their usual service is like, sign me up! The waitstaff was very helpful, polite and friendly. Even with over 350 people standing inside, there was never a line at the bar.

The food our company had arranged for us was passed around on hand-held trays. Every single thing we tasted was fantastic – beef, chicken, vegetable rolls, salmon, spring rolls… every bite left us satisfied and wanting more all at the same time.

The atmosphere is beautiful. For a special event or just a night on the town with a group of friends, you couldn’t go wrong choosing the Spice Market.

Whole Foods Market #226 - Columbus Circle

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

First of all, it’s simply unfair that this store is underneath Williams Sonoma. It makes a trip to the grocery store entirely too expensive.

I love Whole Foods – so much, in fact, that I travel eighty blocks south to go to it instead of the grocery stores that are two blocks or so from my apartment. Everything in the produce section is fresh and wonderful.

The variety in ingredients can be a little lacking. Depending on the type of shopping you do, it’s not always possible (or budget-friendly) to do all of your shopping here – but to use Whole Foods to supplement other grocery shopping is a great idea in my book. The selection of high-quality ingredients is impressive, but let’s face it – sometimes you’re looking to save a little money and don’t need the best you can get.

On the weekends it can be ridiculously crowded, and it’s a little bit of a hassle to get down certain aisles. (During the holiday season, the baking aisle is impossible!) The good news is that the checkout lines are numerous, and the cashiers get everyone through speedily. The line might look intimidating, but you won’t invest a ton of time there.

Overall – a little more expensive, but you’ll get the quality ingredients that you’re looking for. If you’re on a budget, I wouldn’t make it your primary grocery store, but it’s definitely the place to go for produce and those harder-to-find items.

I was married here! We couldn’t have picked a more beautiful location for the ceremony.

The best place to get away from it all and still experience urban settings. I have so many fond memories from Honolulu when I was a child.

My best friends and I spent spring break of 2003 here. It was lovely and I’m counting the days until I get to go back.

I don’t know how in the world a place so close to Cincinnati can be stuck 50 years ago… but I absolutely love it and would go back every week if I could.

It was the best 30 hours of my life

This is the city my now-fiance lived in for 3 months. I went to visit him on the weekend of my senior prom and we spent 30 hours seeing the city together. When I got into a cab on Columbus at 4:00 in the morning, he told me he loved me for the first time.

I would go back there in a second. At least once a week we talk about moving there someday.

My hometown

When I was there, all I wanted was to leave. Now I realize that there was an incredible coffee shop, some fantastic barbecue, and some of the best places to hang out with your friends. You don’t always get so lucky as to find that at a young age, and now that I’m older I wish I would have cherished it just a little more.
