Pegu

(in Burma)

Worth visiting!

Close-by Rangoon and very worthwhile

An easy trip by taxi from Rangoon is Pegu.

There is an amazing pagoda, similar to the Shwedagon in Rangoon. It is called The The Shwemawdaw (Shwe means gold).
Inside was a photograph of some interesting travel companions, Richard Nixon and John Connely, it was taken on a visit to the pagoda.

There is also, one of the largest reclining buddha images in SE Asia.

You will be an oddity, in Pegu, since not very many tourists go there.

A little known wonder!!

Everywhere you rest your eye is a temple.
Wonder what treasures they once held.

Definitely worth visiting.

It is nice to walk where he walked. Visit his outhouse and see where he sat.

Monticello

Worth visiting!

Wonderful place

Made this pilgrimage a couple of years ago. Was disillusioned with the image of George Bush`s America. It is nice to see the world Thomas
Jefferson saw and touched.

They dont show you the upstairs at Monticello, and I havent been able to find pictures. Wonder what it looks like.

Something can be said for a President who`s pasttime is raising flowers, instead of cutting brush.

The highlight for me was his gravestone and what he considered important:

Here was buiried Thomas Jefferson,
Author of the Decleration of Independence,
of the Statuate of Religious Freedom,
and father of the University of Virginia.

United Arab Emirates

Not worth visiting!

just a transit point

Not sure why anyone would choose it as a tourist destination.
It is plastic, trying to hard to be something it isnt.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

Worth visiting!

The view of D.C is nice

The aerial view of the monuments in Washington D.C. might be worth it. However, naming it after Reagan is a bit much.

The Sinai

Worth visiting!

The most beautiful desert I have visited

Lived there for more than a year with the US team observing the withdrawl of Israelis under the Camp David accords.
It truly is a beautiful unspoiled desert. You might see an antelope or a fox. It is the only place where I have experienced the sound of complete silence.

The Suez Canal is a an important part of the Sinai. Passing ships, viewed from the Sinai desert side appear to be sliding through the sand dunes. It makes an interesting photograph.

Be sure and see the St. Catherines monastery and Mt. Sinai. If you dont mind spending the night on the mountain, the sunrise can be seen from the top of Mt. Musa. This is where Moses received the ten commandments. The Greek Orthodox monks at the monastery will show you the burning bush and perhaps offer a glass of ouzo, a bitter Greek apertif. Bet you won`t want to take any home.

There is a place nearby St. Catherines, where a Frenchman painted an area of the desert blue.

The favorite Sinai tourist spots are on the Red Sea at Sharm El Sheikh and Ras Mohamed. It has one of the best coral reefs in the world. The sea is a beautiful turquoise and filled with life. Sharks and dolphins can be seen from the beach.

Corinth

Worth visiting!

It is an easy and interesting trip from Athens

Very scenic, nice ruins, an easy trip from Athens.
See where St. Paul preached to his flock.

A friend took me there on a day trip from Athens. He worked in Greece and had his car shipped over.
It was a Black Trans-Am, just like the car Burt Reynolds drove in Smokey and the Bandit.
It was an oddity in the Greek countryside.
When it was stopped a crowd always came to check it out.
