Old Town is very nice to walk around in, lots of windy old roads and a street-bazaar that i unfortunately missed since i was only there at night. I was getting taken around, so i don’t remember names but there was a little cafe near there, and a really cool renaissance-era restaurant, they sell sugar & cinnamoned almonds near one of the gates.
Outside of old town i played hack-sack with some people i ran into on the street. :)

Drove through on my ‘91 cross-country trip. Stopped long enough to climb some tower thing near the highway and take in a nice view. Honestly can’t say whether it’s worth visiting or not, but i’ll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Mmm, Shan Dong Special Dumplings.
Word is that when Chinese people come to the Bay Area, they go to this Chinatown, not the one in San Francisco.

Visited a friend at U of Iowa on my big trip from Massachusetts to California in ‘91 and he took me to this tiny SF bookstore upstairs in some building that seemed to be falling apart. Picked up a copy of Semiotext(e) SF, which had this perfect quote in the foreword:
“The last time I was in the States, I saw a young guy in Des Moines, Iowa (for Jesus sake, Iowa!) wearing a T-shirt that said:
‘Reality is a crutch for people who can’t deal with science fiction.’
At that moment, I realized that the Revolution was over and my side has won.”

A straight-up Open Space event bringing together wiki folk and others interested in community, social change, etc. New relationships were created, old ones strengthened, code was written, projects were initiated and moved along, and a good time was apparently had by all. 2007 will see RecentChangesCamp again in Portland, and also in Montreal !
