Way back in 1997 my brother plus ~20 friends earned a permit to float the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. 100 miles of river wilderness experience that just can’t be beat. Hotsprings, waterfalls, and incredible whitewater all in excess.
There are many Native American petroglyphs to be found when exploring the many side canyons. One member of our party ended up getting a tatoo of an Elk based on one of the petroglyphs.
To top off our adventure we saw an incredible display of beauty when an eagle greeted our hiking group at sunset by swooping over our heads.
I highly recommend organizing a trip down this majestic water.
