Great first out of the country vacation

I’ve been to Costa Rica a couple of times and loved it. I was up for more of an exotic honeymoon than Mexico (Cancun) but my hubby had never been out of the country, isn’t fluent in any other language and was still a little shy about the whole 9-11 thing & didn’t want to be stuck somewhere heaven forbid something really crappy happened.
ANYWAY, Cancun was a great place to go for the honeymoon. The water, beach, and resort staff were wonderful. The busses were fun (more fun when we were drunk) and we have great cab stories to share. The activities were fun (a little expensive but it is a tourist state) and I would definitly do it again.

About Spring Break – never went there for it and missed it when we went down (thank god) but I’ve heard it’s a great time. I would have no problems with my son or daughter going down there (Cancun) for spring break b/c it really is like a little American city.

Los Angeles, Los Angeles County

Great place to visit but wouldn't want to live there...

Landed in LAX, had a conference at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica for two days then did touristy things with my friend who lives in LA for two days but also got to see not so touristy things (grocery, gas stations, fast food, blockbuster, etc).

It reminded me of my short living stints in Costa Rica…roads are terrible, drivers are crazy, and you REALLY need someone who knows the area to take you around. It’s hard to tell you’re approaching a bad area until you’re in it.

THEN, there’s Beverly Hills & Rodeo Drive…big houses but still not doing it for me. I can have the same giant house in STL for $2M (as oppposed to $3/4M), have space between houses, not live on a busy street, and not have to put my house behind an iron gate for fear of theives.

Yup, great place to visit but wouldn’t want to live there.

Seattle

Beautiful city – loved the markets and consignment shops. This town is full of hippies and artists and I think would be an intersting place to live (for a while). I remember thinking how clean the city was – truly a beautiful city.
