My girlfriend and I have just come back from a week in Tahiti. It was lovely. We stayed at the Le Meridien in Punaauia, in a Lagoon View room. It is a lovely hotel, far enough outside of Papeete to feel a little more relaxed, but close enough to be able to get there easily.

Here are my top travel tips…

• Stay somewhere outside Papeete.
• Go snorkelling!
• Hire a car if you are staying for a while. Driving around Tahiti is pretty easy as long as you keep your wits about you.

My only regret is that we didn’t get around to taking the ferry to Moorea. Oh well, at least I can look forward to going back to French Polynesia and staying on Moorea on my next visit!

I happened to spend two weeks here whilst consulting at First Data . It didn’t help that the last week was the first week of the Sydney Olympic Games; guess where I really wanted to be!

Still, nice welcoming people there, and Ahmad’s Persian Cuisine in the Old Market area was delicious!
