I don’t know that I’d say my life was actually changed. But the first time I went to Wrigley Field was a mind-blowing experience. It cemented my life-long love of the Cubs.

The moose that ate Halloween

I had been at work and was looking forward to getting home to my husband. Now, I’d heard that moose wander through town sometimes, but had yet to see one other than along remote roadsides. I had never really had a close encounter. This evening it was already dark since it was late October and several of the lights in our parking lot were out, so when I saw the dark shape in front of my porch I wasn’t sure what it was at first. But as I got closer, my headlights outlined the forms of two moose, a cow and a calf. They seemed to be examing the pumpkins that we had sitting out for Halloween. Now, I’m not about to tell a 600-700 pound animal that she can’t have my Halloween decorations, so I prudently remained in my car and watched the action. The cow soon moved on, but the calf lowered himself onto his front knees and proceeded to have an evening snack of pumpkin pie, minus the pie. After some time, with tummy full, he stood and moved off after his mother. And I climbed out of my car and went into my house, feeling blessed that I was living in a place where I could experience something like this.
