Gloucester

Worth visiting!

Untitled

We went to Gloucester last weekend, and I loved it. It was supposed to be ninety four, so we decided it was a great day to go to the beach. We went to Stage Fort Park, where there was a cool breeze. We had a picnic while we watched some people get married by the gazebo. Then, we went to the playground so Anders could ride in the swing and on the squirrel bouncer. After that, it was off to the beach. We didn’t go swimming, but we did wade in the water and Anders played in/ate the sand. I loved that the beach was shady with huge rocks on either side. The leaves were just starting to change, too, so it was really pretty.

Later, we went more downtown to see the fisherman statue, and appropriately, it started getting stormy. We went downtown for some coffee to wait out the storm, which was one of the most intense I have experienced. It was a really fun day, and I am happy that we go to go.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

This is one of my favorite roller coasters on earth. I like that it’s not too over the top, just fast and fun. During the day, it’s like a ride through the desert, but at night, it’s a little spookier. Thrill-seekers will want to try sitting in back, while those who want a tamer ride should go up front.

Oh, my brother and I have the tradition of screaming “Let’s get cranked!” as loudly as we can while we ascend the hills. We even have hand motions that go along with it.

Why I want to go to this place

If the Italian side of the Mediterranean is as awesome as the Spanish side, then sign me up now!

Roma

(in Italy > Lazio)
Why I want to go to this place

I want to go to Rome for the art museums and the Vatican, but of the Italian cities, I am actually least excited about Rome. Regardless, I still really hope I get there one day.

Milano

Why I want to go to this place

I almost went to Milan in 2002 when I lived in Spain, but some train problems combined with a US advisory against travel to Italy made it so that we didn’t go there after all. I want to check out the Last Supper (we had reservations to see it, and everything!). There is also another version of the horse sculpture in Frederich Meijer Gardens, Grand Rapids, Michigan, which is where my wedding reception was.

Verona

(in Italy > Veneto)
Why I want to go to this place

I hear that Verona is a cute little city and is way more chill than Rome. I mainly want to see the Romeo and Juliet balcony, of course, but I also want to just hang out in the rest of town, too. My vision is that it’s a bit more authentic than Rome, just because there aren’t quite so many tourists.

Pompeii

Why I want to go to this place

In high school, I was a Latin geek and we regularly talked about Vesuvius. I find the history simply fascinating!

Why I want to go to this place

I want to go to Venice for four reasons: art, architecture, canals, and Italian food!

Denmark

(in Europe)
Why I want to go to this place

I want to go to Denmark for many of the same reasons I want to go to Sweden:

1. I like their government much more than my own.
2. Ancestors are from there.
3. Good pastries!
4. Gorgeous countryside.

Sweden

(in Europe)
Why I want to go to this place

Why do I want to go to Sweden?

1. I believe that socialist democracy is the ideal-while-still-being-practical form of government
2. My ancestors are from there. I don’t know why they left.
3. It’s beautiful there. And they make Dala horses.
