Rudy's "Country Store" And Bar-B-Q

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I went here today for our department’s Christmas lunch. It’s not a restaurant per se, though hundreds of people come here to eat everyday. You order your meat by the pound and eat off of waxed paper. This was a great taste of Texas.

Whataburger - North US 281

Untitled

Two things that I noticed about this place that made it stand out in my mind. First the burger had mustard instead of ketchup. This was different, but not bad. I remember the Oasis, in Chico, CA used to do the same so it brought back good memories. The other thing that I noticed what that the window in front of me had big red letters on it that said, “One Nation under God, indivisible”. I don’t think I have ever seen that in a restaurant before.

Fort Stockton

Not worth visiting!

We stopped here at 2 am after a long day of driving. After the first hotel having no vacancy, we lucked out and got the jacuzzi tub room at the second hotel for the same cost as a night in Phoenix.

We stopped here on the way out of town, after staying the night across the street. The owner was friendly and my coffee was great.

India Palace II

A review of this place: Nice restaurant

I got take out from this restraunt the other night. The restaurant itself seemed to have a nice atmosphere. It also had a dinner buffet which I had not seen at an Indian restaurant. The food was abundant and well priced. The menu was a little on the short side without all of the choices I was used to so I had to improvise. I ended up with a number of tomato based dishes which was not what I was used to, but there seemed to be a Tex-Mex influence in the food. Worth trying again to find out.

Pine Cone Cafe

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

My wife brought me here for the first time today. She said it was renovated from the last time she was here a couple of years ago. It had a very casual feel to it and even a small bar that served mixed drinks and beers on tap. I enjoyed a Widmer Hefeweizen and Pine Cone Burger (two patties on a french roll) with a side of onion rings. The most notable part of the meal were the onion rings which were big, tasty and plentiful. If you are looking for a place to impress your parents, go somewhere else, but if you want lots of good food at a reasonable price then give it a try.

A review of this place: Find wonderful food!

This is a wonderful small middle eastern grocery in Pike’s Place. I was able to buy sumac, gaz and fenugreek here. My wife also found some wonderful jasmine scented hair oil.

A review of this place: A good quick lunch

I have eaten lunch here a couple times when working downtown. The Salad Sampler is a good option.

Red's Horse Ranch

Fond Memories

When I was a kid, I would go on a family camping trip every summer. Usually we would go to the Devil’s Postpile area near Mammoth, CA. One year we flew in to Red’s Horse Ranch in Oregon. We stayed in a cabin there and did some hiking, riding and fishing. What I reember most is that my cousin and I spent most of our time with the horses that we adopted while we were there; Shammy and Radar.

A review of this place: Try the fish bar

I haven’t eaten at the restaurant inside but the fish and chips or clam chowder at the walk up fish bar are yummy.
