Massachusetts, United States

Great town!

I went to Boston in the late 1980s for a datacomm seminar. I didn’t have a ton of time to kill, but I was impressed with both the seafood and the public transportation there. We had nothing in St. Louis like “the L” (the transportation system) at the time.

Noah's Ark Restaurant, St Charles

Used to be a great place

I remember my parents taking me there when I was a kid and we lived in St. Louis county. It was a really cool place from a kid perspective back then (about 25-30 years ago). The food was good and the waiters/waitesses were all dressed up in animal costumes.

Years later, when I was in junior high school, a bunch of us went there after a school dance. It had a really nice, semi high-class restaurant at that time. That was the last time I was in there. That must’ve been around 1977 or 78.

I’m not sure exactly what the deal was, but years later a gas station/convenience mart type place went up on the adjacent property and they actually cut into the hull of the ark with the wall of the gas station! I’m not sure what kind of genius came up with that idea, but it looked really trashy and the place went downhill from there on. It’s been vacant for years now.

West Palm Beach, Florida

Lots of memories

My grandma and a lot of our extended family used to live here. It’s definately not touristy, and I can see why a lot of people wouldn’t be into it. Nevertheless, I have a lot of good memories of West Palm and would like to go back again some day.
