I spent some time in Indiana because my ex-husband’s family lives there, in Columbus, which is a nice town. My problems with Indiana is that other than the Speedway (which is awesome), there is nothing to do there. I went to Indianapolis (dead all day and boring) and Fort Wayne (not very nice) and drove south from Columbus to Kentucky. The food in Indiana is gross. All they have are chains. Lots of Denny’s and Applebee’s. The only pizza around there is Pizza Hut, Papa John’s or Dominos. The only bagels you’ll find are at Dunkin’ Donuts, and the only deli sandwich you can get is at Subway. I went to the State Museum in Indianapolis, which was on par with other museums, but nothing fascinating. I’ve seen other museums that blow it away. When visiting Indiana, a lot of our time was spent traveling to other states.

I’ve lived here all my life, but I have to tell you—whenever I have people come visit from other parts of the U.S. or the world, they absolutely love all you can get from Jersey. You can’t beat being the closest place to New York City, first off. You also can’t beat Atlantic City on the East coast. It’s like one little street of Vegas, but on the beach. We have the best Six Flags in the country, with its own drive-through safari and a separate water park (Hurricane Harbor). We have my favorite beach on the East Coast in Wildwood Crest and Cape May. We have some of the best professional sports teams to watch (Devils, Giants, Jets, Red Bulls) and we have plenty of theaters, museums and historic sites. Up in the Northwest of the state, we have some of the best skiing at Great Gorge. Not to mention, the diversity in food and culture here is unbeatable.
